This will be a pretty good barometer of whether or not you will want to work with and through them or not. Talk to the Better Business Bureau first and foremost before you sign any contracts. If there are any outstanding complaints against the web hosting company, you will want to know about that first. The other thing to do is to talk to other customers/clients of the provider to see what they have to say about the service that they get from the web hosting provider and ask if they would recommend the company or not.
